Born in the Warsaw Ghetto in 1919. Survived WWII finally by mascarading as ethnic Pole named Miczyslaw Pruzanski, an officier in the Polish Army. He bcame a hero and after the war an intelligence officier who associated closely with Russian KGB officiers. He received special intelligence training in Russia. He finally left the intelligence service (imprisioned first though) and became an academic and a journalist. He eventually migrated to Isreal and then to the US where he ended days as US businessman.
While an intelligence officier in Poland he worked with KGB officier named Colonel Zaitsev. When Zaitsev went on leave to Moscow, he left Pruzanski in charge of his files and safe. Pruzanski (Shainberg) read and copied a secret diary that chronicled what happened at the Katyn Forest Massacre of Polish Officiers by Soviets (on orders of Beria) in 1941.
